wx24 Pilot Releases New Update to “Aviation Weather At A Glance” App

The latest version now includes PIREPs to its robust aviation weather features

1 Echo Charlie, LLC, an aviation technology company, released a new update to their aviation weather application for Apple mobile devices, wx24 Pilot. Now pilots will be able to access PIREP (Pilot Reports) weather reports from other pilots with this new version.

A pilot report or  is a report of actual weather conditions encountered by an aircraft in flight, which is usually relayed by radio to a Flight Service station and is especially helpful when the actual weather conditions differ from weather forecasts.

PIREPs can also alert other pilots and Air Traffic Control of hazardous weather for pilots to keep clear. All pilots should give reports if:

  • In flight when requested
  • When unusual or unforecast weather conditions are encountered
  • When weather conditions on an IFR approach differ from the latest observation
  • When a missed approach is executed due to weather
  • When a wind shear is encountered on departure or arrival

With the addition of PIREP forecasts to the wx24 Pilot app, pilots will enjoy even more situational awareness and safety enroute. Read more…

Shelbyville Municipal Airport is Looking to the Future with Help from Aviation Marketing Consulting

Aviation Marketing Consulting provides initial airport analysis and recommendations for future planning

The City of  Shelbyville in Tennessee will determine the future of its airport based on a airport assessment developed by Aviation Marketing Consulting.

An initial on-site assessment was conducted in January and an initial report, which included both qualitative and quantitative research, was presented to Shelbyville in March.

The report provided two possible directions for the future of the Shelbyville airport – either remain as it is currently; a recreationally focused general aviation airport, or to pivot towards business aviation and to position it as the gateway and keystone for future economic development for the City of Shelbyville.  Read more…
